Rental Scam Warning
Protect Yourself From Rental Scams
Scammers copy real rental listings, post them at a lower rent, and collect deposits for rentals they have no right to offer. Some have copied ours. This page shows the warning signs, how we really list and lease our rentals, and what to do if something looks wrong.
Search Available HomesCommon Signs of a Rental Scam:
- The rent is far below similar homes nearby.
- You are asked to pay a deposit or fee before seeing the rental.
- The "landlord" says they are out of town and cannot show it.
- You are pushed to decide and pay today.
- The ad has photos or wording copied from another listing.
How Scammers Ask for Money:
- A wire transfer.
- Gift cards.
- Cryptocurrency.
- A payment app, sent to a personal account.
- Cash, mailed or handed to someone you have not met at the property.
How We Really Work:
- Every rental we offer is listed on this website.
- We never post listings on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
- Applications are taken only through the Apply Now button on our listing.
- No deposit or rent is due until your application is approved and the lease is signed.
- Our phone number is 248-592-7688.
Check Before You Pay:
- Look for the home or apartment under Search Available Homes or Search Available Apartments on this site.
- Call us at the number on this site, not the number in the ad.
- Do not apply through a link sent by text or social media.
- Never send money to hold a rental you have not seen.
- Not sure? Ask us. We will tell you if a listing is ours.
We never post listings on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. If you see one of our rentals on either, or anywhere that asks you to pay a person directly, it is not from us. Please tell us at leasing@zamzampm.com or 248-592-7688 so we can have it taken down.
